Medical-Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Medical-Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse to join our clinical team. This role demands strong nursing skills and the ability to float between various units within a designated zone.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patient health on telemetry.
• Provide care to patients across multiple specialties, including Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, and more.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Comply with all floating requirements within the assigned zone.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Medical-Surgical Telemetry experience within the last 3 years.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Preferred experience with neuro patients and familiarity with EPIC and Alaris systems.

Patient Care Environment

• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with a variety of diagnoses.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5-6, depending on patient acuity.
• Charge nurses are designated per unit but may take patient assignments as needed, especially on night shifts.

Scheduling and Commitments

• Shifts are scheduled 6 weeks in advance, with flexibility required from travelers.
• Travelers are expected to work 6-9 weekend shifts within a 6-week period.
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotations as required.

Operational Guidelines

• All travelers are required to float within the assigned zone.
• Communication regarding float assignments will occur before shifts start.
• Orientation is mandatory and must be attended in-state.
• Travelers may not miss more than 3 shifts in a 13-week contract period.
