Description

Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) works collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team, planning and implementing patient and family education. The RN is responsible for assessing patient needs and initiating appropriate interventions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Montana Licensure (Registered Nurse)
  • American Heart Association BLS certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program Provider (NRP) certification required; recertification every 2 years
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring Series Certificate of Completion (or equivalent AWHONN approved course) required (not required if a Lactation RN); FHM recertification required every 2 years
  • American Heart Association ACLS certification (not required if a Lactation RN)
  • Competence in and willingness to practice modified primary nursing
  • Completion of two hours of initial cerebrovascular disease (stroke) education
  • If Lactation RN: Certification in lactation consulting/counseling (CLC, IBCLC)

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience in labor and delivery

  • Collect comprehensive data pertinent to patient health (Assessment)
  • Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues (Diagnosis)
  • Identify expected outcomes for individualized patient plans (Plan of Care)
  • Develop plans that prescribe strategies and alternatives to achieve expected outcomes
  • Implement the identified plan of care
  • Promote health and maintain a safe environment
  • Enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice
  • Maintain current knowledge and competency in nursing practice
  • Evaluate nursing practice in relation to professional standards and regulations
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and colleagues in nursing practice
  • Integrate ethical provisions in all areas of practice
  • Integrate research findings into practice
  • Provide leadership within the professional practice setting

  • Demonstrate sound judgment, patience, and professionalism
  • Ability to work in a busy and stressful environment
  • Strong problem analysis and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work varied shifts

Schedule Requirements

This role requires regular and sustained attendance. The position may require working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 pounds as necessary
  • Maintain a sitting posture for extended periods
  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Occasional climbing, twisting, bending, and stooping
  • Fine finger movements for tasks such as typing
  • Close visual acuity for preparing and analyzing data
  • Ability to learn new tasks and maintain focus in workflow

Exposures

Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, cleaning products, and emotionally challenging situations involving distressed patients or difficult family interactions.
