Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a progressive care unit. The RN will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to a diverse patient population, including adults and occasional pediatric patients aged 15 and older.

Unit Information

• Level of Care: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Number of Beds: 55
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Cerebrovascular accident (CVA), transient ischemic attack (TIA), shortness of breath, COVID-19, subdural hematoma, and weakness.
• Common Medications/Drips: PCA pumps for pain management, Cardizem, Insulin.
• RN Ratio: 1:4 for both day and night shifts.

Shift Information

• Shifts: 12 hours
• Shift Times: 0630-1830, 1830-0630
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend

Support Staff

• Nursing Assistant support available
• Charge Nurse present
• Additional support from Educators, Care Managers, Social Workers, Dieticians, Physical Therapists, and Occupational Therapists

Qualifications

• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Other Competencies: Telemetry skills required

Unit Challenges

• Staffing adjustments and floating to medical-surgical areas as needed depending on patient care demands
• Focus on enhancing patient experience through hourly rounding and responsiveness

• IV Pumps: Alaris available in every other room
• Specialty Equipment: Mechanical lifts in every other room
