Description
Job Summary
This position requires a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to float between various medical and surgical units. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care while ensuring adherence to established standards and procedures.
General Job Duties
- Provide nursing care and support to patients in medical and surgical units.
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
- Assist in various medical procedures as required.
- Document patient care activities using Meditech EMR.
- Utilize equipment such as Pyxis, wound vac, and chest tubes.
Shift Requirements
Shifts are 12 hours long from 18:45 to 07:15, with a scheduled commitment of 36 hours per week following the initial orientation week. While the schedule is established, there is no guarantee of hours.
Unit Information
The nurse will float between different units:
- Medical Unit: 77 beds, nurse to patient ratio of 1:6 for days/eves and 1:8 for nights.
- Laulima Unit (Surgical Acute): 18 beds, nurse to patient ratio of 1:6.
- Cardiovascular Unit: 15 beds, nurse to patient ratio of 1:4 (on rare occasions).
Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 to 10 years of nursing experience.
- Possession of an active State of HI license or must apply upon acceptance of the offer.
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS. Preferred certifications: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, and ENPC.
Orientation and Training
A comprehensive orientation program will be provided for each unit. New hires must arrive the Thursday prior to their start date to complete an employee health appointment on Friday. It is essential to be present on time as scheduled.
Dress Code
Professional nursing attire, including clean scrubs, is required while on duty.
Additional Information
Medical and religious exemptions will not be accepted in lieu of documented proof of immunity. Candidates must ensure all required documentation is complete prior to the start of their assignment.
