Description

Progressive Care Unit Nurse

Unit Information

This is a 15-bed Progressive Care Unit consisting of 3 Step Down ICU beds and 12 telemetry beds. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 in the Progressive Care section and 1:3 in the Step Down ICU.

Schedule Requirements

  • 36 hours per week scheduled after the first week of orientation.
  • No guarantee of hours.
  • No call required.

General Job Duties

  • Provide primary nursing care.
  • Monitor telemetry and interpret telemetry strips.
  • Perform fingerstick blood sugar tests.

Equipment Utilized

  • Meditech charting system.
  • Pyxis for medication management.
  • BIPAP machines.
  • Continuous cardiac monitoring equipment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year.
  • Experience in Progressive Care and telemetry preferred.
  • Must possess a valid State of Hawaii license upon acceptance of the offer.
  • ACLS, current PALS, and NIHSS certifications preferred.

Floating Requirements

Staff may be required to float to all acute care units within the facility, including Medical, Surgical/Pediatric, ICU, and ER departments.

Dress Code

Scrubs required.

Additional Information

Travelers must arrive the Thursday prior to their start date to attend the required employee health appointment on Friday. Please ensure availability for this timeline before accepting the offered start date.
