Position Overview
The ICU Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced environment. This position involves assessing patient needs, administering medications, and utilizing titratable drips while ensuring a high standard of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to a diverse patient population, including trauma, cardiac, and substance abuse cases.
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, implementing appropriate interventions based on clinical judgment.
- Manage and titrate various intravenous drips, including cardiac medications and insulin.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.
- Document patient assessments and care in the electronic health record (EPIC).
- Participate in unit orientation and continuous education programs.

Work Environment
The position involves working in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with a focus on adult patients experiencing critical conditions. RNs are expected to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips, having oversight from telemetry technicians.
Shifts and Scheduling
- 12-hour shifts: 0630-1830 and 1830-0630
- Self-scheduling available for core staff; travelers added in as needed.
- Weekend requirements: every other weekend.
- Holiday requirements: a minimum of two holidays within the contract time frame.
Orientation
- One shift of department-specific orientation is required.
Additional Information
Transport assistance may be available for patients as needed. Nurse aides will assist based on census and will sit 1:1 or help on the floor depending on patient volume.
Floating Policy
RNs may be required to float to PCU or MedSurg units while maintaining the same patient care ratios.
This role requires compliance with established policies, including a prohibition on artificial nails for patient care providers.
