Description
Job Description
We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our team in the Special Care Nursery (SCN). The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience, with Level 2 NICU experience required and Level 3 preferred.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Special Care Nursery (SCN)
- Number of Beds: 12 licensed SCN neonatal beds
- Average Deliveries: 325 births per month
- Average Census: 10 patients in the SCN
- Staffing Ratios: Typically 3:1, depending on acuity (occasionally 2:1)
Responsibilities
- Provide care for neonates 32 weeks gestational age and above.
- Manage patients on CPAP, High Flow, and Feeder Growers.
- Monitor and address common diagnoses such as R/S Sepsis and Hyperbilirubinemia.
Required Certifications
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- STABLE certification
Skills & Experience
Successful candidates will have:
- A minimum of 2 years of NICU experience, with Level 2 experience required and Level 3 preferred.
- Ability to start IVs; the nursing team is responsible for all IV placements.
- Collaboration with a certified neonatal PICC team for specialized needs.
Work Environment
- Shift Details: 12-hour shifts, primarily nights from 7 PM to 7:30 AM.
- Weekend Requirements: Available for 3 weekend shifts per month, with the possibility of working Fridays, Saturdays, and one Sunday.
- Holiday Requirements: Commitment to one major and one minor holiday per year.
- Floating Requirements: Willingness to float to sister facility when required.
Support Staff
- Presence of Nurse Aides and Patient Care Technicians (PCT) to assist with patient care.
- Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs) and Pediatrician coverage available 24/7.
Charting System
Cerner electronic medical record system.
Location
Position available in a city in the state of interest.
