Description

Registered Nurse (RN) / Cardiac Observation

Job Description

The registered nurse in the Cardiac Observation Unit provides a high level of care for patients undergoing catheterization procedures. This role involves evaluating assigned patients and planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care while assisting physicians during examinations and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Admit patients into the Cardiac Observation Unit.
  • Prepare patients for catheterization procedures, including documenting pre-procedure checklists and starting IVs.
  • Prep patients for Cardioversions and Transesophageal Echocardiograms.
  • Recover patients following catheterization who received conscious sedation.
  • Sedate, circulate, and document bedside procedures such as Cardioversions and Transesophageal Echocardiograms.
  • Discharge patients, including providing education, documentation, and physical discharge processes.

Shift Information

The position requires a flexible schedule with three 12-hour shifts that may vary, including days and weekends. Call requirements will be on a rotational basis, typically every four to six weeks.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid Registered Nurse license in Arizona or a compact state license.
  • Current certification in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) is required.
  • Consideration will be given to candidates with experience in PACU, ICU, Telemetry, Cath Lab, or Surgery Centers.
