Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care across a variety of surgical specialties within a Level III Trauma facility. This role is instrumental in ensuring patient safety, maintaining regulatory compliance, and facilitating efficient surgical workflow.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage patient care throughout the intraoperative phase.
• Assure patient safety and maintain a sterile environment during surgical procedures.
• Prepare surgical cases by ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are ready.
• Document patient information accurately and thoroughly.
• Handle specimens, administer medications, and coordinate multidisciplinary team activities.
• Act as a patient advocate to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and nursing colleagues.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role is required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
• Experience in General Surgery, Orthopedics, Gynecology, Robotics, Urology, Hand Surgery, and Podiatry is required.

Work Schedule

This position primarily covers day shifts, with additional call requirements split among the operating room RNs. The average call is approximately 7 in a 6-week period, with weekday call from 3 PM to 7 AM and weekend shifts covering 12 hours.

Environment

The Operating Room Circulator Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and extensive knowledge of various surgical procedures and technologies. No floating to different units will be required.

Additional Information

Scrubs will be provided and laundered by the facility. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR), specifically Medhost and PICIS, is beneficial.

All traveling nurses are required to undergo fingerprinting as part of the onboarding process.
