The Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Observation Unit provides exceptional care for patients undergoing cardiac procedures in a fast-paced environment. This role involves evaluating assigned patients, planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care, as well as assisting physicians during examinations and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Admit patients into the unit.
• Prepare patients for catheterization procedures, including completing pre-procedure checklists, initiating IV access, and preparing for access procedures.
• Prepare patients for cardioversions and transesophageal echocardiograms.
• Recover patients following cardiac catheterization procedures involving conscious sedation.
• Administer sedation, circulate, and document bedside procedures, including cardioversions and transesophageal echocardiograms.
• Discharge patients with comprehensive teaching and documentation.

Shift Information

Shifts may vary, typically consisting of three 12-hour shifts during the day. Call requirements are included on a rotational basis, which may involve weekends.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid RN license in Arizona or a compact state.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications are required.
• Experience in PACU, ICU, telemetry, cath lab, or surgery center settings will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
