Description
General Information
The position involves working in an intensive care unit (ICU) with the following specifics:
- Number of Beds: 10
- Patient Ratios: 2:1 or 3:1
- Unit Staffing: Clinical Nurse Coordinators (CNC), RNs, Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nurse Externs
- Type of Equipment: Philips Telemetry, Baxter pumps, iMobile, Ventilators, Glucometer
- Documentation System: Meditech Expanse
- Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, and current NIH certification (must be completed annually)
Responsibilities
The ICU Registered Nurse will provide critical care and nursing services, ensuring patient safety and care quality. Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and managing patients using telemetry.
- Administering therapeutic phlebotomy and managing BiPap/CPap as required.
- Performing procedures such as paracentesis (physician-led), wound vac management, and central line care.
- Conducting post-dialysis assessments and blood transfusions.
Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital setting, specifically in ICU.
- Active nursing license in good standing, with compact licensure if applicable.
- BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
Scheduling and Floating Policy
This position requires:
- Working every other weekend and a standard schedule of three 12-hour shifts.
- The potential to float to the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), 3rd floor, or emergency department (ED) as needed.
