Unit: Delivery Room

• Number of Beds: 26
• Number of Staff: 112
• Staff Composition:
  • Day Shift: 1 CNC (Team Leader), 14 nurses, 2-3 Surgical Technologists, 2 unit clerks
  • Night Shift: 1 CNC (Team Leader), 12 nurses, 2 Surgical Technologists, 1 unit clerk
• Patient Ratios:
  • 1:1 for high-risk labor and c-sections
  • 1:2 for antepartum, PPROM, PTL on magnesium, postpartum on magnesium
  • 1:3 for postpartum without a baby, outpatient care
• Equipment: Alaris pumps, PCA pumps, Monica Novii telemetry, CPN (GE) monitor
• EMR: Meditech / CPN

Qualifications

Must Have:

• Minimum of 1 year of current acute care hospital Labor and Delivery RN experience
• BLS, ACLS, NRP, EFM-C or AWHONN certifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with circulating c-sections
• Experience in high-risk Labor and Delivery

• C-sections and Inductions
• Artificial Rupture of Membranes (AROM)
• Intrauterine Pressure Catheter (IUPC)
• Continuous Fetal Monitoring (DFM and Doppler)

Additional Information

This unit offers self-scheduling, enhancing staff satisfaction. The team works collaboratively to ensure staffing needs are met, fostering a supportive team nursing approach. The leadership team is strong and actively supports nursing staff, with many nurses possessing 20 to 40 years of experience. A new OB Hospitalist program was implemented recently, providing additional support to both the residency program and nurses working in triage.
