Surgical Technologist - Cardiovascular

Unit Information

The Surgical Technologist will work in a unit with:

• Number of Beds: 10 Operating Room (OR) Suites and 1 Cysto Suite
• Staff Composition: 8 Full-Time Surgical Technologists, 2 PRN Surgical Technologists, 10 OR Nurses, and 2 PRN OR Nurses
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 for general cases (1 Surgical Technologist: 1 RN), 2:2 for Cardiovascular cases

General Information

Equipment Used: MediTech Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

Typical Procedures

The following procedures are commonly performed in the unit:

• Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
• Mitral Valve Replacements
• Femoral Bypass Procedures
• Thrombectomy
• Orthopedic, Neurosurgical, General, Gynecological, Urological, ENT, and Podiatry procedures

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

• Required Skills:
  • Experience scrubbing for Cardiovascular surgical procedures
  • Ability to scrub for General procedures
• Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with cardiovascular scrubbing
  • Orthopedic scrubbing experience
  • Robotic surgery scrubbing experience

Certifications

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Dress Code

Surgical scrubs will be provided, and the required color is blue due to daily change requirements.

Weekends and On-Call

Candidates may be asked to provide additional coverage for 1-2 nights per week and 1 weekend each month. On-site weekend teams are available for 12 hours a day, but extra coverage may be needed for emergency cases.
