Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Description

This position involves working within the Labor and Delivery unit, focusing on providing high-quality care to patients during labor, delivery, and the postoperative period. The role includes assisting in C-sections and managing various aspects of patient care in the L&D and antepartum settings.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 14 in Labor & Delivery, 9 Antepartum beds
• Staff Composition: 33 team members including Registered Nurses (RNs) and Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs)
• Core Staff on Day/Night Shift:
  • 1 Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC)
  • 3 Registered Nurses (RNs)
  • 1-2 Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs)
  • 1 Antepartum Nurse
• Patient Ratios:
  • L&D Final Stage or C-Section: 1:1
  • Antepartum: 1:4
• Equipment Used: Operating Room (OR), Fetal Heart Monitors, Ultrasound
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech

Qualifications

Ideal candidates should possess the following qualifications:

• Required Skills:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Experience in Labor and Delivery (L&D)
• Preferred Skills:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Additional experience in Labor and Delivery (L&D)

Typical Procedures

• Care for laboring patients
• Assisting in the Operating Room (OR) with C-sections

Personality Fit

The ideal candidate will be assertive yet friendly, with strong critical thinking skills.

Required Certifications

• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)

Floating Areas

• Post-Partum

Dress Code

Royal Blue Scrubs are required as per the unit's dress code.

Work Scheduling

Weekend rotation and flexible scheduling required.

Experience Requirement

A minimum of 1 year of experience is required for this position.
