Description
Position Description
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Labor and Delivery to join our team. This position requires expertise in obstetric nursing care and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Unit Information
The Labor and Delivery unit is equipped to provide comprehensive care to women and children. Here are some key details about the unit:
- Number of Beds: 2 triage rooms, 10 labor rooms, 2 operating rooms
- Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, 6 RNs, 1 scrub tech, 1 secretary
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, 5 RNs, 1 scrub tech, 1 secretary
- Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 2:1, depending on acuity
- Type of Equipment: Fetal monitors, Intrauterine Pressure Catheter (IUPC), Fetal Scalp Electrode (FSE), fluid warmer, IV pumps, epidural pumps
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR): CPN, Meditech
Key Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse will be responsible for the following:
- Performing vaginal deliveries and assisting with cesarean sections
- Conducting amniocentesis and managing amnioinfusions
- Placing IUPC and FSE as needed
- Monitoring fetal strips and interpreting data to ensure safe labor and delivery experiences
- Providing patient education and support to expectant mothers and their families
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following skills and certifications:
- Required Skills:
- Proficient in starting intravenous (IV) lines and drawing laboratory samples
- Ability to interpret fetal monitoring strips
- Proficient in performing vaginal examinations
- Experience as an OB circulator
- Preferred Skills: Ability to scrub for surgical procedures
- Certifications:
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP

Work Schedule
This position requires working rotating shifts, including every other weekend, to ensure comprehensive care for our patients.
Dress Code
The dress code for nursing staff consists of teal scrubs, while technicians are required to wear navy scrubs.
