Position Overview
This role involves providing high-quality care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing complex patient cases and collaborating with a skilled team of healthcare professionals.
Unit Details
- Number of Beds: 26
- Patient Ratios: 2:1
- Staff Composition: RNs and Unit Secretary/COVID Runner
- Equipment Utilization: Ventilators, Alaris IV Pumps, Balloon Pumps, Ventriculostomy Drains, Glucometers, iMobile Technology
- PPE Requirements: Masks, Face Shields, Goggles, PAPR, Hoods for COVID-19 patients
- Documentation System: Meditech using EBCD (Evidence-Based Clinical Documentation)
Scheduling Requirements
Shifts are twelve hours long from 7 PM to 7 AM, with a requirement for working every other weekend and holidays as designated.
Floating Policy
Nursing staff may be required to float to other Medical-Surgical Units in the hospital, with a focus on Intensive Care Units when necessary.
Patient Experience
Emphasis on hourly rounding, bedside hand-off reporting, “My Care Board” completion, and the use of AIDET for compassionate and connected care.

Qualifications
- Required Skills: ICU experience, Ventilator management, Critical care drip knowledge, Thorough assessment skills, Proficient knowledge of cardiac, neuro, and respiratory systems, Don and Doff of PPE.
- Preferred Skills: Ability to care for COVID-19 patients, Positive attitude, Flexibility, Team-oriented, Self-motivated, Excellent communication skills, Capacity to work in a diverse environment.
- Certifications: ACLS and BLS required; TNCC preferred.

- Intubations
- Cardioversion
- Ventriculostomy drain placement and management
- IABP management
- Continual renal replacement therapy (CRRT)
- Proning of patients
Dress Code
- Required uniform: Ceil blue scrubs
- Optional: White or ceil blue scrub jacket
- Green surgery scrubs provided for staff working with COVID patients.
