Description
Position Description
This position requires a dynamic and experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery. Candidates must bring a minimum of two years of experience in a hospital setting and hold an active nursing license in Kentucky or a compact state upon application.
Unit Information
- Number of Beds: 7 Labor & Delivery, 14 Mother-Baby, Level 2 NICU/ Newborn Nursery
- Number of Staff: 58
- Day Shift Staff: 6-8 RNs, 1 OB Tech, 1 Unit Clerk
- Night Shift Staff: 5-8 RNs, 1 OB Tech, 1 Unit Clerk
- Patient Ratios:
- L&D: 2:1
- Mother-Baby: 6-8:1
- NICU: 1-4:1 (depending on acuity)
- Type of Equipment: Alaris pumps, Corometrics 250 series Fetal Monitor, Monica monitor, Ranger fluid warmer
- EMR System: Meditech Expanse and Centricity Perinatal (CPN)
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery
- Ability to circulate for cesarean sections
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 or more years of Labor and Delivery experience
Typical Procedures Performed
- Vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections
- Induction of labor (using Cook catheter, Cervidil, oxytocin)
- Intrauterine fetal demise (IUFD) management
- IV insertion and laboratory draws
- Sterile vaginal exams
- Assistance with epidurals and foley catheter placements

Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- AWHONN certification (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)
Dress Code
Scrubs provided for infant security.
Schedule Requirements
Every other weekend (Friday and Saturday night) is expected.
