Description
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our MedSurg Orthopedics team. This position offers a guaranteed 48 hours per week, with shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM for a duration of 12 weeks.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Orthopedics & Spine Specialty
- Number of Beds: 36
- Total Staff: 75
- Patient Ratios: 5-6 patients per RN
- Equipment: Traction, external fixators, halos, walkers, gait belts, bed alarms, continuous pulse oximetry, remote telemetry monitoring
- EMR System: Meditech
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license in Kansas
- Current BLS certification
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care hospital experience in Med/Surg or Telemetry units
Preferred Skills
- NIH Stroke Scale certification
Role Responsibilities
- Perform wound care and dressing changes
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with orthopedic injuries and conditions
- Collaborate with healthcare team members for optimal patient outcomes
- Utilize mobile communication technology for enhanced team connectivity
Work Environment
This dynamic MedSurg unit is fast-paced and specializes in orthopedic injuries, neurological conditions, including strokes and traumatic injuries. The unit recently expanded to accommodate an increasing volume of patients, ensuring that staff remain engaged and supported in their roles.
Schedule and Commitment
- Rotating weekend schedule (every 3rd weekend, or every other depending on staff needs)
- Shifts: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
