Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Emergency Room (ER) Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of two years of recent experience in a Level 1 trauma setting. The position requires flexibility to work across various shifts, including days, midnights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency department.
• Conduct bedside triage and assess patients in a timely manner.
• Administer medications and perform procedures as per protocols.
• Collaborate with physicians, mid-level providers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain effective communication with patients and their families.
• Utilize electronic medical records and charting systems accurately.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of recent ER/Trauma Level 1 experience.
• Certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC or ATCN.
• Successful completion of a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of receiving an offer.
• Ability to manage and treat a variety of emergency conditions, including trauma and high-risk patients.
• Competency in moderate conscious sedation.

Work Environment

• 60-bed ER with 14 fast-track beds.
• Patient to nurse ratios of 3-4 patients per nurse.
• Work alongside a dedicated team, including Charge Nurses and Paramedics.
• Exposure to a diverse patient population with various medical conditions.

Shift Requirements

• Flexible start times: 7a, 9a, 10a, 11a, 12p, 1p for day/mid shifts.
• Night shifts include: 3p, 5p, 7p.
• Minimum commitment of four weekend shifts per scheduling period.
• Availability to work during two of three major holidays during the holiday season.

Additional Information

• The ER provides support with an IV team and respiratory therapy available 24/7.
• Continuous education and training are encouraged and provided.
• Unit orientation will last 2-3 days to familiarize with specific protocols and procedures.
• The department handles approximately 80,000 visits annually.
