Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care ICU

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 30
• Staffing: 40+ staff members
• Patient Ratios:
  • SD/ICU: 2-4:1
  • Med-Surg: 5-6:1
  • 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCT) on the floor as needed

General Responsibilities

As an RN in the Acute Care Unit, you will take part in a collaborative, team-based care model where you will:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a fast-paced environment.
• Conduct routine assessments and monitor patient status.
• Administer medications, perform procedures, and manage treatment plans.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Required Certifications:
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) completed prior to the end of orientation for RNs
  • PCT/NAs must have BLS certification
• Preferred Experience:
  • Prior experience in ICU/Stepdown units
  • Minimum of 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience is preferred

Work Environment

You will be working in a supportive unit that utilizes a team-based care model, engaging daily in case discussions with various healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, case management, and therapy providers to ensure coordinated care and optimal discharge planning.

Dress Code

• Nurses: Navy blue scrubs
• NAs: Galaxy/Royal blue scrubs

Schedule

A weekend rotation is required, with three scheduled shifts on Monday and Friday over a six-week period. Holidays are assigned according to the staffing matrix.
