Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our clinical team. The RN will work in a fast-paced environment, providing care for low-risk patients greater than 36 weeks gestation. The ideal candidate will have experience in Labor and Delivery and a passion for maternal and neonatal health.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care in the Labor and Delivery setting.
• Monitor fetal heart rates and manage labor progression.
• Titrate drips as required, including Oxytocin and occasionally magnesium sulfate.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including OB technicians and anesthesia, as needed.
• Ensure adherence to AWHONN guidelines for patient-to-nurse ratios.

Unit Information

• Capacity: 8 Bed LDRP, 8 Postpartum Beds
• Deliveries: Approximately 35 births per month
• Assessment Tools: Continuous fetal monitoring with Phillips monitors
• CPAP and Ventilation: Available for neonates awaiting transfer

Qualifications

• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, NRP, and STABLE required.
• Experience in Labor and Delivery settings is mandatory.
• Ability to read and interpret fetal heart rate strips.

Shift and Scheduling

• Self-scheduling available.
• Weekend requirement: Three full weekends in a six-week period.
• Holiday requirement: One full summer holiday and one full winter holiday.
• Call shifts: Three shifts in a six-week period, with potential for floating to other units.

Orientation and Training

Participate in a comprehensive orientation program, which includes unit-specific training over two shifts.

Cancellation Policy

The facility reserves the right to cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment and three shifts for shorter assignments.
