Labor and Delivery Nurse

General Information

We are seeking a qualified Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team in City, State. This position requires a commitment to providing quality care for patients during labor, postpartum, and antepartum stages, as well as caring for newborns and infants under 28 days old.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring patients, including continuous fetal monitoring and assessment.
• Support patients through labor and delivery, ensuring a safe and positive experience.
• Care for postpartum patients and offer education on infant care and recovery processes.
• Monitor and assess both adult and neonatal patients, employing effective interventions as necessary.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians and support staff, to ensure high-quality patient care.

• Postpartum Care

• Newborns and Infants under 28 days old

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 1 year experience specific to Labor and Delivery; first-time travelers with relevant experience are welcome to apply.
• Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from the facility.
• Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as travelers.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP.
• Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in South Dakota is required.

Skills Required

• Expertise in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) interpretation and intervention.
• Proficiency in adult and neonatal assessment skills.

Support on the Unit

• CNA support is available within the facility.
• Charting is conducted using the Epic system.
• Resources like Respiratory Therapists are available facility-wide.
• Hospitalist services are in-house for medical/surgical needs.

Work Schedule

• Weekend rotation required: every other weekend.
• Holiday expectations include 3 scheduled holidays with 1 on-call holiday on a rotating schedule.
• Approval of time off is allowed with 2 designated request opportunities per year, which should be submitted before the next schedule is published.

Orientation and Training

Orientation is tailored to experience, typically lasting 1 week for traveling nurses.
