Description
Job Description
This position operates within the urgent care department to assist patients and healthcare staff in an ambulatory care setting, responsible for the overall functioning of the clinic.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical services in collaboration with healthcare providers, staff, and management to ensure high-quality care, efficient resource utilization, and compliance with organizational standards.
- Lead and direct clinic staff, ensuring efficient operations across all areas including front desk and patient care.
- Maintain medication inventory and manage supplies outside of the Warehouse PAR system.
- Conduct necessary quality control checks with Point of Care tests.
- Document all care and services accurately and timely, completing nursing duties in a professional manner.
- Oversee the opening and closing procedures of provider clinics.
- Assist providers and staff as needed, anticipating their requirements to support efficient patient care.
- Communicate effectively with other departments to serve as a reliable resource for patients and fellow staff members.
Qualifications
- Must hold a current, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of urgent care experience is necessary.
Knowledge and Skills
- Understanding of the nursing process and the ability to apply it in a practical setting.
- Strong customer service principles.
- Knowledge of safety and infection control protocols.
- Proficient in assessments, anticipating needs, and specimen collection.
- Experience with medical equipment and computer systems.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Exhibit teamwork and cooperation.
- Willingness to educate others when appropriate.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to maintain positive working relationships across staff and departments.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. The employee frequently stands, walks, sits, and uses hands to manipulate equipment. Occasional requirements include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The role may require lifting or moving up to 50 lbs.
Shift Information
Urgent care operates from 8 AM to 8 PM with variable shifts across days and hours. Holiday coverage is mandatory.
