Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse is available in a fast-paced rural emergency department. This position requires a compassionate and knowledgeable professional to provide high-quality care for patients in critical situations.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care to emergency department patients with varying degrees of urgency.
• Assist in triaging patients, taking their medical histories, and performing assessments.
• Collaborate closely with medical staff and participate in patient care planning.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, using de-escalation techniques as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and standards of care.
• May be required to float to a neighboring emergency department.

Shift Information

• Shift: Days from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, with no on-call requirements.
• Average patient ratio of 4 to 5 patients per nurse.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Indiana.
• Healthcare provider certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
• Completion of a de-escalation training program.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in an Emergency Department setting.
• Familiarity with EMR systems, preferably Cerner.

Additional Information

• Orientation dates will be determined based on years of experience.
• The unit consists of 23 beds.
• Scrub color required: Navy blue.
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be considered.
