Overview

Seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care in a busy Level 1 Trauma setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility with scheduling and a willingness to float between units as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in the ICU unit.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, recognizing any changes promptly.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare providers regarding patient status and needs.
• Administer medications and titrate drips as required.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care.
• Assist in complex procedures and utilize advanced clinical skills, including hemodynamic monitoring.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an acute care setting, especially in a busy hospital environment.
• Experience with critical care, including CRRT, chest tubes, and ventilator management.
• Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to recognize early signs of patient condition changes.
• Ability to communicate clearly and escalate issues with providers as necessary.

Patient Care Details

• Typical nurse-patient ratios are 1:2 or 1:3 based on patient acuity.
• Common patient diagnoses include liver and kidney transplants, vascular surgeries, and complex abdominal surgeries.

Work Environment

• 24/7 presence of Hospitalists and Intensivists on the unit, with Advanced Practice Providers available.
• Respiratory Therapy support in the ICU around the clock.
• No dedicated telemetry or monitor techs; RNs are required to read their own strips using Phillips monitors.

Shifts & Scheduling

• Rotating shifts based on unit needs; self-scheduling is not permitted.
• Weekend and holiday shifts as required, typically 4-6 days every 6 weeks.
• Potential for flexible off days during low census periods.

Dress Code

The dress code requires teal bottoms with coordinating scrub tops. No fleece jackets are permitted, and fingernails must be kept professional.

Orientation & Training

Participate in unit-specific orientation as required.
