Description

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Information

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) specializes in providing care for critically ill newborns. The unit features 17 beds and is staffed by a dedicated team of 21 professionals.

Staffing and Patient Care

  • Day Shift: 4 Clinical Nurse Coordinators (CNCs), 7 Registered Nurses (RNs), and 2 PRN RNs
  • Night Shift: 2 Clinical Nurse Coordinators (CNCs), 6 Registered Nurses (RNs), and 1 PRN RN

Patient ratios in the unit range from 1:1 to 3:1, ensuring high-quality, personalized care.

Equipment and Technology

  • Phillips monitors
  • Giraffe isolettes
  • Hamilton ventilators
  • RAM cannula
  • Baxter IV pumps
  • Medfusion syringe pumps

The electronic medical record (EMR) system utilized is Meditech with CPN integration.

Typical Qualifications

The ideal candidates will possess the following:

  • Must Have:
    • Minimum of 1 year of current acute care Level III NICU hospital experience
    • BLS and NRP certifications
  • Preferred:
    • Delivery experience
    • NICU or PICU experience
    • PALS certification

Procedures Performed

  • UAC and UVC insertion
  • Intubation
