Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of two years of experience required.
• Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
• Licenses and Certifications:
  • Current, active Registered Nurse license in the State of Colorado.
  • BLS and NRP certifications required.
  • ACLS certification preferred.

Scope of Role

The Registered Nurse for the Family Birthing Center will independently assess and evaluate the health status of patients in the labor and delivery phases, as well as neonates. The RN will collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to establish care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes while acting as a patient advocate.

Essential Duties

• Provide direct patient care and monitor responses during labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.
• Educate and support mothers during pregnancy and postpartum regarding infant care and breastfeeding.
• Document all events and education in the patient medical record using electronic systems.
• Communicate patient conditions verbally and in writing with medical staff.
• Assist with maintaining nursing staff skills and learning new procedures.
• Collaborate with nursery nurses in the care of mother-baby dyads.
• Support physicians during procedures as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety within the family birthing center environment.
• Assist in emergency situations when required in other nursing units.

Working Conditions

This position operates during night shifts from 6 PM to 6 AM, totaling 36 hours per week. Weekend and holiday coverage may be required. Overtime opportunities may be available.

Physical Requirements

Employees must meet the following physical demands:

• Regularly use hands for handling and operation.
• Frequently stand, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Occasionally walk or sit and must be able to detect changes in odors.
• Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific visual abilities include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
