CVOR Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The CVOR Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in the cardiovascular operating room, providing exceptional patient care during surgical procedures. This position requires experience in General Operating Room settings, as the RN will also assist in various other surgical specialties when CVOR cases are not scheduled.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in cardiovascular surgeries, including CABG, AVR, MVR, and thoracotomy procedures.
• Maintain a safe and sterile environment throughout surgical procedures.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes.
• Participate in the call rotation for CVOR, being available for after-hours emergencies.
• Document patient care and surgical procedures accurately in the electronic medical record system (Cerner, Surginet).

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS.
• Experience in General Operating Room required; CVOR experience preferred.
• Ability to float within the OR to other specialties as needed.
• Capable of responding to call requirements with a maximum response time of 30 minutes.

Work Environment

• Number of CVOR suites: 1
• Average cases per week: 2
• Staffing: 2 circulators per case
• Charge RN will oversee daily assignments and staffing needs.
• Weekends: Required on a rotating basis
• Orientation: A week or until comfortable in the role

• Scrub color: Provided
• Common types of cases involve straightforward cardiovascular surgeries.
• Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment.
• Trauma Level: Acute care setting.
