Description
Position Overview
This role involves working 4 shifts per week, each 10 hours in duration, with responsibilities extending into weekday and weekend on-call requirements. The successful candidate will work in a medical facility located in Olympia, WA, which has a total of 107 beds and is designated as a non-trauma facility.
Facility and Equipment Details
- Beds: 1 Cath Lab, 1 IR room, 1 Hybrid room

- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pump: Alaris
- Med dispensing: Pyxis
- Hemodynamic monitoring: Merge
- C-arms: GE
- Injector: MedRad
Required Experience and Skills
A minimum of 2 years of experience is required for this position. Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience in both Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology (IR)
- Cath Lab knowledge of diagnostic and interventional procedures, including:
- Left Heart Catheterization (LHC)
- Right Heart Catheterization (RHC)
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP)
- Pacemaker insertion
- Staged/protected Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCIs)
- Advanced catheter techniques for complex patients (e.g., CTOs, Impella)
- For IR, experience with procedures such as:
- Coil embolizations
- Nephrostomy tube placements
- Central line and port placements
- IVC filters
- Tunneled and temporary dialysis catheter placements
Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage patient care during procedures in the Cath Lab and IR
- Effectively collaborate with a team of 3 in each procedural room
- Assist in room turnover and maintain necessary equipment readiness
- Read and interpret EKGs effectively
- Transport patients as required, especially in cases involving IABP
Orientation and Support
New travelers will undergo an orientation program, contingent on their prior experience in IR. Orientation will last approximately one week for those with experience and a couple of weeks for those requiring additional training. During this time, travelers will engage in buddy call.
Scheduling and On-Call Requirements
The position includes a weekend rotation with call responsibilities, requiring a 30-minute response time. Scheduling is primarily self-managed, with minor adjustments made to fill any gaps in the schedule.
Licensure and Certifications
- Required licensure for RNs: BLS and ACLS
- Required licensure for RTs: BLS, ACLS, ARRT or RCIS certification, and state license
Additional Information
Scrubs and lead aprons are provided, with options for extended sizing available as needed.
