Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Medical-Surgical Nurse (RN) to join our team. This role involves providing high-quality patient care in the Medical-Surgical department, specifically for post-operative recovery patients. The RN will float as needed within their scope of practice and be responsible for monitoring patient progress, administering medications, and maintaining accurate patient records.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for Medical-Surgical patients, ensuring high standards of care.
- Monitor post-operative recovery patients and intervene as necessary.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Utilize the EPIC charting system for documentation and patient management.
- Adhere to the organization's fingernail policy, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- 1 year of experience in a Medical-Surgical setting preferred, with an emphasis on oncology experience for specific assignments.
- BLS certification is required.
- Prior experience with nasal cannula and other respiratory therapy equipment is beneficial.
Work Environment
This position is located in a fast-paced, acute care setting with a typical patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5 for Medical-Surgical patients. Nurses may also be involved in overflow from oncology as needed.
Shift Information
This position involves 12-hour night shifts. Candidates must be flexible and willing to float to various departments, as necessary, within their competencies.
Cancellation Policy
The organization reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts within a 13-week assignment and up to 3 shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks.
Other Information
Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments. Failure to comply with this policy may result in contract termination. An open-book examination will be conducted during orientation, where a minimum score of 90% is required to pass.
