Description
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency care, excellent documentation skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Unit Information
- Unit: Emergency Room
- Total Beds: 33 patient care rooms
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Average Patient Volume: 210 patients per day
- Cardiac Monitors: 25 rooms equipped with cardiac monitoring
- Triage Area: Staffed with Midlevel providers and Registered Nurses or Licensed Vocational Nurses
- Staffing: Charge nurse available 24/7
- Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA) compliance
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the emergency department.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and document findings accurately.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members, including physicians and midlevel providers, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Stabilize and treat patients according to organizational standards and regulations.
- Participate in self-scheduling with flexibility to accommodate unit needs.
- Be available to work 2 weekends per 4-week period and 2 out of 3 holidays.
Qualifications
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required.
- Preferable to have recent experience with Cerner EMR; candidates may test out of required training.
- Previous experience in an emergency room setting is required.
- Ability to document and communicate effectively with all levels of staff and patients.
- Strong critical thinking and organizational skills.
Additional Information
- Shifts: 12-hour night shifts available.
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs are required; all attire must adhere to color guidelines.
- Floating: No floating outside of the ER.
- Orientation: Up to 6 shifts with a preceptor will be provided.
- Patients: Expected to handle routine emergency cases while transferring critical cases like STEMIs and hemorrhagic strokes as necessary.
