Position Description

We are seeking a dedicated Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in Overland Park, Kansas. This position offers a guaranteed minimum of 48 hours per week, providing care in a 25-bed medical telemetry unit.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 25
• Patient Ratios: 4-5 patients per nurse
• Unit Focus: Primarily serves renal, urology, oncology, pulmonology, cardiology, and general medical-surgical patients.
• Staffing: Includes unit secretaries and techs to support nursing staff.
• Equipment: EKG machines, bladder scanners, sit-to-stand lifts, Hoyer lifts, hover mats, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis systems.
• Documentation System: Meditech - EBCD

Scheduling Requirements

Shifts are scheduled for at least every third weekend, with an expectation of three shifts per week. The position may require floating to similar units such as Ortho, Neuro, CCU, CDU, SSU, Obs, and Rehab.

Patient Experience Focus

Our team emphasizes the importance of nurse explanation and courtesy. Daily leader rounds include pre-rounds to connect with patients about their preferred names and how we can enhance their care experience. Post rounds involve coaching staff based on patient feedback while recognizing exemplary care.

Required Qualifications

• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Basic dysrhythmia recognition skills
• Strong team orientation and positive attitude

Advanced Skills and Procedures

Basic medical-surgical procedures will be performed on the unit. Our staff is supported by an unencumbered charge nurse and clinical educator, ensuring effective teamwork and collaboration.

Dress Code

Uniform consists of royal blue scrub tops, with matching or black pants. Undershirts should be in grey, white, black, or royal blue.
