Job Description

The position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join a team in a Cardiovascular Care Unit. The unit caters to acute cardiac patients, including those recovering from various procedures such as catheterizations, stent placements, and pacemaker insertions. Additionally, the unit accommodates stroke patients and provides overflow for other medical-surgical units as needed.

Unit Profile

• Number of Beds: 28
• Patient Ratios: 4-5:1
• Unit Staffing: Includes unit secretaries and technical staff
• Focus: Safety and quality with an emphasis on documentation compliance and processes related to central lines, Foley catheters, and infection control measures
• Type of Equipment: EKG machines, bladder scanners, lifts, and medication dispensing systems
• Documentation System: Meditech - EBCD
• Scheduling Requirements: At least every third weekend; three shifts per week
• Floating Policy: May float to similar units such as Ortho, Neuro, CCU, CDU, SSU, Obs, and Rehab
• Patient Experience Focus: Ensures a positive patient experience through daily nurse leader rounds and attentive communication

• Requirements:
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications
  • Basic Dysrhythmia certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification
  • A positive attitude and a collaborative mindset
• Preferred Qualifications: Cardiac experience is beneficial
• Procedures Performed: Basic telemetry procedures

Dress Code

Required uniform includes:

• Royal blue scrub tops
• Royal blue or black pants
• Grey, white, black, or royal blue undershirt
