Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join a dynamic healthcare team in a Surgical Specialty Unit. The RN will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, focusing on post-operative care and management of various procedures.

Unit Specifics

• Number of Beds: 20 private
• Patient Ratios: 4:1 total patient care; 5:1 with a patient care technician
• Unit Staffing Description: 1 tech usually supports 4-5 nurses on the floor
• Type of Equipment: Alaris IV Pumps, CADD epidural, Alaris PCA, Pyxis Medication Dispensing Machine, telemetry, EKG, bladder scanner, wound vacs, capnostream machines, SCD Pumps
• Documentation System: MediTech
• Scheduling Requirements: Every 3rd weekend, two Mondays and Fridays per four-week scheduling period
• Floating Policy: To like medical/surgical/telemetry units including ortho neuro center, med/tele, 4N, CDU

Patient Experience Requirements

The unit operates at a high pace, demanding optimal patient care and engagement.

Hospital Specifics

• Certifications: Center of Excellence in Colorectal and Robotics, MBSAQIP certified in Bariatric surgery

Qualifications

• Experience: Previous Med-Surg experience is required.
• Advanced Skills: Must possess a solid understanding of post-operative care.
• Procedures Performed: Ostomy management, ostomy irrigation, NGT placement and management, Foley catheter placement and maintenance, central line management, JP drains, wound management, IV starts, blood administration, nutritional supplementation including TPN, G/J tubes.
• Certifications Required: BLS certification is necessary.

Dress Code

Required uniform includes royal blue tops and black or royal blue bottoms.
