Location: Live Oak, TX

Unit Capacity: 48 headwalls, approximately 25 additional treatment spaces

Staff: Approximately 80 members including Charge Nurses, Flow Navigators, RNs, Paramedics, ED Techs, and Unit Clerks

Patient Ratios: Acuity-based ratios

Type of Equipment: Emergency, Trauma, and Critical Care equipment including GE, Stryker, and Plum 360

EMR: Meditech

Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. This role involves performing rapid patient assessments, recognizing changes in patient conditions, and applying critical thinking skills to manage patient care effectively.

Qualifications

• Required Skills:
  • Strong clinical and rapid patient assessment skills
  • Ability to recognize changes in patient condition
  • Critical thinking capabilities
  • Effectiveness in a fast-paced environment
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Trauma experience in a Level 1 or 2 Trauma Center
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-volume Emergency Department

Procedures Performed

• Moderate sedation
• Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI)
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Peripheral IV (PIV) and Intraosseous (IO) access
• Splinting
• Electrocardiogram (EKG) interpretation
• Blood transfusion and TNK administration
• Cardiac monitoring, stroke assessment, trauma assessment, resuscitation, sepsis workups

• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
• Pediatric Emergency Nursing Certification (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)

Dress Code: Navy scrubs

The role requires commitment to teamwork and collaboration, with all staff expected to assist one another in patient care and operational tasks.

Note: Shift starts 15 minutes prior to designated time. Staff must clock out/in for a full 30-34 minutes for lunch each shift, and food or drink is not allowed in patient care areas.
