Unit Information

This medical-surgical orthopedic unit consists of 17 beds, focusing on patients with various orthopedic conditions.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients with common diagnoses such as hip, knee, shoulder, and spinal conditions.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry as required, passing a dysrhythmia exam for competency.
• Adhere to a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5.
• Float to tele units when necessary, maintaining a ratio of 1:4.
• Coordinate with the clinical supervisor, who serves as the charge nurse with no patient assignments.

Shift and Scheduling Details

• 12-hour shifts starting at 6:45 PM and ending at 7:15 AM.
• Weekend requirement includes working 4 shifts in a 4-week schedule.
• Holiday shifts will be integrated into the permanent staff rotation.

Orientation

Orientation includes 1 shift of unit-specific training to familiarize nurses with policies and procedures.

Additional Information

• Requires 2-3 years of experience in the specialty along with travel experience.
• Nurses must be team-oriented and adaptable.
• Navy scrub color is required for staff.

Certifications

• BLS certification is mandatory.

Support Services

• Hospitalist services are available 24/7 on-site.
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7.
• No dedicated IV team present within the unit.
