Position Description

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team for a 13-week duration. This position involves working a day shift from 7 AM to 7 PM, focusing on providing high-quality care to patients in a medical/surgical unit.

Unit Information

• Location: Corpus Christi, TX
• Unit: 2 West
• Number of Beds: 8 inpatient beds plus 8 admission unit beds (flexing up to 12 beds based on hospital census)
• Staffing: 10 staff members, including 1 charge nurse, 2 RNs, and 1 PCA per shift
• Patient Ratios: Maximum of 6 patients per nurse
• Type of Equipment: Standard medical equipment
• EHR System: Meditech

Typical Responsibilities

• Provide care for medical and surgical patients.
• Perform standard nursing skills including IV insertions, urinary catheter insertion and maintenance, and medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
• Document patient care and progress in the electronic health record (EHR) system.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Must have at least 1 year of acute medical/surgical experience within the last year.
• Ability to manage care for 4-6 patients simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of acute medical/surgical experience within the last year.
• Experience in orthopedics or neurosurgery preferred, but a general medical/surgical/telemetry background is acceptable.
