Position Description

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in a medical-surgical unit. The role includes providing care to a diverse patient population with varying medical needs.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 36
• Patient Ratios: 1:4 / 1:5
• Unit Staffing: Secretary available daily; PRN techs
• Type of Equipment: PD Cyclers, Welch Allyn VS Carts, Hoyer Lift, Broda Chairs, Alaris IV Pumps
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements: 4 weekend shifts in each 4-week block
• Floating Policy: Will float over core staff as needed

Patient Care Responsibilities

Responsible for performing basic patient assessments and general care for the following conditions:

• Wound care
• Tracheostomy care
• Ostomy care
• Drain management
• Chest tube management
• Care for patients post-stroke
• Seizure precautions

The patient population may also require dialysis support or PCA pump management, with heparin as the only drip medication used.

Post-Operative Procedures

• Amputations
• Ostomy procedures
• Drain management
• Chest tube placements
• Oral surgeries
• Wound vac application

Dress Code

Scrubs in Navy, Blue, White, Black, Gray, or Ceil Blue are required.

Qualifications

• Certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years
