Registered Nurse - Progressive Cardiac Care Unit (PCCU)

Position Description

The Progressive Cardiac Care Unit (PCCU) is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team. This unit provides critical care for patients with cardiovascular conditions, and we are looking for individuals who are passionate about providing excellent patient care.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 34
• Number of Staff: 44
• Staffing:
  • Day Shift: 11 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), 12 RNs
  • Night Shift: 6 PCTs, 13 RNs
• Patient Ratios: 1:5 for PCCU level, 1:6 for MST level
• Type of Equipment: VS machines, EKG, bladder scanning, glucometers, continuous pulse oximetry
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following:

• Current BLS Certification
• Current ACLS Certification

Preferred qualifications include:

• PCCN, TNCC, or TCAR certifications
• Experience in ICU or PCU level of care
• Precepting experience

Typical Procedures Performed

• Foley catheter and nasogastric tube (NGT) insertions
• Wound care

Additional Information

Our unit is known for its positive work culture and flexibility with scheduling. We are actively upskilling our medical-surgical staff to manage PCU-level patients and have recently been designated as the official trauma PCCU.
