Registered Nurse (RN) - Obstetrics

Position Overview

An experienced Registered Nurse is needed for a dynamic and diverse role in an Obstetrics unit. The nurse will be responsible for providing care in labor and delivery, as well as mother-baby care, newborn nursery, and couplet care. The unit manages an average of 15-17 births per month and offers the opportunity to work closely within a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for laboring patients, including assessments and triage.
• Manage care for gynecology surgery patients as necessary.
• Support mother-baby care, including initial assessments of newborns, ensuring validation by a supervising RN.
• Assist in monitoring patients using electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) and respond to changes in patient status.
• Collaborate with an LPN to ensure efficient patient care, including documentation and evaluation tasks.
• Float to Med/Surg if needed, assisting with vitals and medication administration when comfortable.
• Request additional support from the Transfer Coordinator during emergencies.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required.
• BLS, NRP, and Fetal Heart Monitoring certifications must be current.
• Experience in labor and delivery, mother-baby care, and/or newborn nursing preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a small unit setting and provide support as needed.
• Strong assessment and communication skills.
