Job Description

An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Surgical Stepdown at a healthcare facility located in Topeka, KS. This position will focus on providing high-quality patient care in a post-surgical environment, specifically for patients undergoing urological and bariatric surgeries.

Unit Overview

The successful candidate will work in a 28-bed unit that caters to post-operative needs, including:

• Bariatric reduction surgeries
• Urological and nephrological procedures
• Management of various infectious processes requiring surgical intervention
• Treatment of GI diseases

Contract Length

This position is available for a contract length of 26 weeks, with the potential for extensions up to 51 weeks. Candidates interested in shorter contracts (13 weeks) will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Shift Details

Shifts are 12 hours long, with a guarantee of 36 hours per week. Weekend rotations will occur every other weekend.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of progressive care or step-down nursing experience required.
• Current AHA BLS Certification required at the time of submission.
• Must possess a valid nursing license in KS or a multistate license.
• No prior disciplinary actions or hits allowed.
• Education: ADN or BSN.

Compliance Requirements

All necessary certifications and licensure must be verified upon submission. Immunity status documentation for Hep B, MMR, and Varicella, or proof of vaccination series completion is required. Documentation for TDaP and Influenza vaccinations (or exemption requests during flu season) is also necessary.
