Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) to deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment. The position requires strong clinical skills and the ability to manage complex patient cases.

Scheduled Details

• 12-hour night shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage on Memorial Day

Orientation

Successful candidates will complete 8 hours of non-billable orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for critically ill patients, focusing on cardiovascular conditions.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and multi-system organ failure.
• Oversee patient management involving thermoregulation, CABG, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Impella, and post-cardiac surgery care.
• Manage pre- and post-cardiac catheterization/interventions, and perform pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring.
• Administer continuous IV sedation and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips.
• Conduct CVA and acute stroke management, including interpretation of ABGs and care of ventilated patients.
• Utilize various medical devices and therapies, including BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC).
• Ensure adherence to infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions.
• Perform phlebotomy, manage surgical wounds with drains, and provide care for patients requiring complex interventions.

Qualifications

• Active Illinois nursing license.
• Current certification in CPR, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Cardiovascular ICU.
• Ability to pass an EKG test with a score of 80% or higher.
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred.

Additional Information

This position may require floating to other ICU units within the region as necessary.
