Job Details

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This position includes a night shift schedule with a commitment of 36 hours per week.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Stepdown
• Beds: 35
• Patient Ratios: 1:4-5
• Common Diagnoses: Adults and geriatrics, cardiac conditions, nephrology, strokes, diabetes, continuous EEG monitoring
• Drip Management: Required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications
• Support Staff: Nurse aides/patient care technicians at a ratio of 1:10 or 2:20

Shift Schedule

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Shift Times: 1830 - 0700
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every third holiday

Orientation and Training

The first week will be dedicated to onboarding with an additional 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation. New nurses will be required to pass an open-book examination on skills learned during orientation, achieving a minimum score of 90% to remain in the position.

Required Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years
• Required Certifications:
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

This is a fast-paced environment that requires strong communication skills, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a positive attitude. Compliance with policies regarding artificial fingernails is mandatory, as they are prohibited in patient care areas.
