Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse to join our Level II NICU team. This position will involve providing specialized nursing care to critically ill newborns in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in the NICU, including high-risk newborns.
• Monitor and assess patients' health status and respond to changes in condition.
• Administer medications and perform necessary procedures, adhering to established protocols.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including Neonatologists and Nurse Practitioners, to optimize patient outcomes.
• Support families through education and emotional support during their child’s stay in the NICU.
• Participate in self-scheduling and fulfill weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent NICU experience, Level II preferred.
• BLS Certification and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required.
• STABLE certification is a plus.
• Ability to float to sister facilities as needed.

Unit Details

• Level II NICU with 12 private rooms and a Special Care Nursery (SCN) with 18 beds.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: NICU 2:1, SCN 3:1.
• Supported by an in-house team of NNPs 24/7 and Neonatologists during the day.
• Common patient diagnoses include hyperbilirubinemia, respiratory distress syndrome, and sepsis, among others.

Additional Information

Orientation will include a pass/fail simulation lab for specific competencies. Schedules are managed through a self-scheduling system. The unit encourages a collaborative environment and values continuous learning and support for staff development.
