Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a fast-paced Stepdown Unit. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, critical thinking abilities, and a positive attitude to provide high-quality care to our patients.
Shift Information
- Shift Type: Nights
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Unit Details
- Department: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Number of Beds: 35
- Patient Ratios: 1 RN to 4-5 patients
- Common Diagnoses: Adults and geriatrics with conditions including cardiac issues, nephrology problems, strokes, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring.
- Titration Responsibilities: RNs will be required to titrate drips, including medications such as Cardizem, beta-blockers, and seizure medications.
- Nurse Aids/Patient Care Techs: Present with ratios of 1:10 or 2:20.
Qualifications
- Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years as a Registered Nurse.
- Required Certifications:
- ACLS (AHA)
- BLS (AHA)
- NIHSS
Work Environment
This is a fast-paced environment where attributes such as effective communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities are essential for success. Nurses are expected to demonstrate teamwork and a commitment to quality patient care.
Scheduling and Orientation
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirements: Every third holiday
- Orientation: Comprehensive onboarding followed by 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation.
Additional Information
- Radius Rule: Candidates must be within a 50-mile radius and cannot be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facilities associated with the organization.
- Fingernail Policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in departments providing patient care.
