Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a stepdown unit specializing in both oncology and medical-surgical care. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care and collaboration with a diverse healthcare team.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: PCU Oncology (5 North)
- Primary Patient Population: Adult Oncology PCU and Trauma PCU patients
- Number of Beds: 18
Shift Details
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Shift Hours: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Schedule: Every other weekend with self-scheduling options
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a stepdown setting.
- Monitor and manage patient conditions, including titration of medications such as insulin and Cardizem.
- Administer chemotherapy and other common medications as needed.
- Engage in hourly rounding and bedside shift reporting to enhance the patient experience.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nursing assistants, case managers, social workers, and educators.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required; previous oncology experience preferred, but strong PCU experience is acceptable.
- Certifications:
- ACLS – Required
- BLS (AHA) – Required
- ONS/ONCC Certification – Preferred but not required
- Education: Current RN licensure is required.
Additional Information
- Floating: Travelers may float to other Med/Surg and PCU units at the same level of care.
- Orientation: Two days of unit orientation will be provided.

I worked 4South/ the people are amazing and flexible, helpful, and supportive to work with. The charges are incredibly helpful.
Cons
Poor communication between residents/ attendings l which affects what is told to nursing and communicated to nursing. This was a huge issue working here. Also the resources are low, things always out of stock on the floor, only one translator / bladder scanner per floor , things like that.
