Description
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Med Surg/Peds Registered Nurse (RN) for a nursing position with a focus on delivering quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to patient safety and a collaborative approach to working with the healthcare team.
Position Details
- Shift: Nights (self-scheduling) + weekends as needed
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Patient Ratios: Days: 1:4, Nights: 1:5
- Number of Beds: 17 total (14 inpatient, 3 observation)
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care for both adult and pediatric patients with conditions such as UTI, altered mental status, pneumonia, and COPD.
- Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including on-call pediatricians for pediatric patients.
- Assist with monitoring and troubleshooting respiratory therapy equipment, primarily BiPap.
- Documentation of patient care and adherence to hospital protocols.
- Participation in floating to ED/ICU for 1:1 patient assignments as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a similar nursing role.
- Certifications: Current BLS and PALS certifications required.
- Skills: Strong communication, motivation, approachability, and teamwork skills are essential.
Operational Notes
- No clinical involvement in titrating drips; basic support for electrolyte, hypertensive medications, and occasional diuretics.
- Charge Nurse present on each shift, taking on patient assignments.
- Nurse aids available: 2 on days, 1 on nights.
- Self-scheduling options available with flexible weekend requirements.
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs.
Orientation
Orientation consists of one 12-hour shift, with additional sessions if necessary based on the individual’s experience and competency.
