Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Med Surg/Peds Registered Nurse (RN) for a nursing position with a focus on delivering quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to patient safety and a collaborative approach to working with the healthcare team.

Position Details

• Shift: Nights (self-scheduling) + weekends as needed
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Patient Ratios: Days: 1:4, Nights: 1:5
• Number of Beds: 17 total (14 inpatient, 3 observation)

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for both adult and pediatric patients with conditions such as UTI, altered mental status, pneumonia, and COPD.
• Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including on-call pediatricians for pediatric patients.
• Assist with monitoring and troubleshooting respiratory therapy equipment, primarily BiPap.
• Documentation of patient care and adherence to hospital protocols.
• Participation in floating to ED/ICU for 1:1 patient assignments as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a similar nursing role.
• Certifications: Current BLS and PALS certifications required.
• Skills: Strong communication, motivation, approachability, and teamwork skills are essential.

Operational Notes

• No clinical involvement in titrating drips; basic support for electrolyte, hypertensive medications, and occasional diuretics.
• Charge Nurse present on each shift, taking on patient assignments.
• Nurse aids available: 2 on days, 1 on nights.
• Self-scheduling options available with flexible weekend requirements.
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs.

Orientation

Orientation consists of one 12-hour shift, with additional sessions if necessary based on the individual’s experience and competency.
