Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join a dynamic and fast-paced healthcare team. The position involves providing high-quality patient care within a busy Level 1 Trauma unit, specifically catering to high acuity patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients, including heart and lung transplant recipients, LVAD patients, and those recovering from valve surgeries.
• Titrate vasoactive drips and manage all aspects of patient monitoring.
• Work collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals, including intensivists and respiratory therapists, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in unit-based orientation and training programs.
• Float to other units as necessary, depending on competency and unit needs.

Unit Details

• Number of Beds: 25 high acuity beds across two sub-units (8A: 12 beds, 8B: 13 beds)
• Patient Ratios: 1:2, with occasional 1:1 assignments
• Nurse Assistant Support: 1 Patient Care Assistant on the floor
• Equipment: Utilization of various respiratory equipment managed by respiratory therapy

Schedule & Requirements

• Certification Required: Experienced ICU RN with active licensing
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a busy ICU setting; previous travel experience preferred
• Weekend Requirement: At least 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
• Holiday Requirement: Flexibility to work during holidays as needed
• Floating Requirement: Must be open to floating between units
• Scheduling: Shift assignments made based on unit needs; no self-scheduling

Additional Information

• Daily parking is available onsite, with multiple options for more extended parking arrangements.
• Unit specific orientation will include 2-3 shifts with preceptors.
• Devices commonly utilized in the unit include LVAD, CRRT/SLED, Impella, and IABP.
• Nurses are supported by an intensivist model for patient management and care.
