Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team in a busy, large Level 1 Trauma center. This position requires flexibility with scheduling, including a commitment to floating across different units, and working every other weekend.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced ICU environment.
• Monitor patient conditions, recognizing changes and escalating as needed.
• Titrate intravenous drips including vasopressin, epinephrine, levophed, and others.
• Utilize critical thinking skills to address complex patient care needs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including intensivists and APPs.
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring and manage critical care equipment.
• Oversee the care of patients with diagnoses such as liver and kidney transplants, vascular surgeries, and complex infections.
• Assist with patient ADLs, ensuring safety and comfort.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 3 years of critical care experience.
• Previous travel experience in busy hospitals is highly preferred.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS are required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.
• Ability to float to other ICUs based on skill set and staffing needs.

Work Environment

• 12-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 to 1:3.
• Dedicated team members, including hospitalists and intensivists available 24/7.
• Availability of respiratory therapists in the ICU around the clock.
• Professional dress code: teal bottoms with black or printed coordinating scrub tops; includes guidelines on nail care.

Scheduling Details

• No self-scheduling; shifts are assigned based on unit needs.
• Weekend requirements include 4-6 days every 6 weeks.
• Orientation will consist of 2 shifts specific to the unit.
