Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team at a busy Level 1 Trauma Center. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in critical care nursing and be prepared to provide exceptional care to a diverse patient population.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
- Monitor patient conditions and maintain accurate medical records.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including titration of various drips.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team, utilizing strong communication and critical thinking skills.
- Recognize changes in patient conditions and escalate concerns to the appropriate providers.
- Work with advanced medical equipment and technology, including ventilators and hemodynamic monitoring systems.
- Participate in unit orientation and training processes for new staff as needed.
- Floating to other ICU areas may be required based on staffing needs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an ICU setting, with previous travel nursing experience preferred.
- EPIC proficiency required.
- Valid BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Expertise in early recognition of patient condition changes and effective communication.
- Experience with CRRT, hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, ventilators, and managing various surgical drains.
- Ability to titrate intravenous drips including vasopressin, epinephrine, Levophed, and others as per patient needs.
Work Environment
You will be working in a fast-paced ICU with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:3 based on patient acuity. An intensivist and advanced practice providers are available on the unit 24/7 to support patient care. Weekend and holiday coverage is required as part of the role.
Dress Code
The dress code includes teal bottoms and black or printed coordinating scrub tops. Professional standards regarding grooming and attire must be adhered to at all times.
